Summer Fruit
This series combines my love of painting with my passion for food. Fruits have a playful quality - their vivid colors, rich textures and splendidly perfect shapes seem to put them in a ready pose for painting. Food preparation is an artistic and spiritual process, resulting in something designed to delight all the senses. To be fully enjoyed, it must completely disappear! Rendering it on canvas extends our pleasure further so we can savor it long after the satisfying demise of the scrumptious morsels. Each beautiful piece of fruit has its own personality. One appears to relax lazily in the sun, another waits in anticipation, while yet another seems to be attempting to flee its ultimate fate.

The next set of fruit paintings (yet to be posted) are evolving to reflect fruit in motion, caught in the act of being prepared.My hope is to capture the wondrous complexity and sensuality of that suspended moment; to hint at the very personal nature of creating a meal from the soul, and to show that the beauty of presentation is a cumulative act of preparation, not just the finished product.
